Garuda Bust by LindseyWArt Garuda Bust by LindseyWArt
Hello everybody and Happy Halloween!

Here is a little treat on my part, this is a little something I have been playing around with for the past few weeks, trying to come up with some idea that I want to ultimately sculpt. Originally I wanted it to be like a bird-like dragon, but in the end it just went to bird beast and dubbed it Garuda.

Also, this is the first time I incorporated Zbrush into a digital painting, or ever using Zbrush as a matter of fact. It takes a lot in getting used, but I plan to use it a lot more.

So yes, it isn't meant to be a complete painting or masterpiece but as a guide I am going to use sculpt this sucker. It should be lots of fun!

Anyways, thanks for looking and if you have any insightful comments then leave them behind!

Enjoy!

Man, I gotta get my hands on zbrush. I love the way this looks!

Although to me, it looks more like an aquatic creature rather than a flying one. It's got the octupus' beak, gills on the side, a seashell-like horn and cute little fins!

Well that is one way to look at it, but I was imagining something like the Cassowary; a giant killer bird that runs around ramming it's head into it's prey, also flightless.

Ouch, yeah that would hurt with the horn being rammed up their butts.

Ha ha, that is because I largely over painted everything. I did a lot more than I should have done, but I wanted to be happy with it (which means lots of editing :X)

Here is the original Zbrush if you are curios, it's fun stuff! :D

Wow! I don't think that's over-painted or overdone at all, I love how it looks in comparison to the original!

I really need to find a way to subscribe to your blog. :crying:

Super sculpey! The best medium to use for individuals like me who get bored and push a project to the side for a while and want to come back to it after a month's time. :P

Yes, super sculpey is a little expensive but it's the choice clay to sculpt with, a lot of professional artists use it .

Anyways, I will take some photos as I make progress on it, then maybe I can make a tutorial with them. :D
