Dragon Warm-Up by LindseyWArt Dragon Warm-Up by LindseyWArt
A morning warm-up in Alchemy that came out to my liking. An unoriginal dragon head design, and by that I mean I need to branch out to other species. When have you seen me draw monster squirrels or cows? My point exactly.

Ha ha, anyways I hope you all enjoy and thanks for looking. :)

I'll be honest with you, I have no idea the name or if it even exists in the animal world.

For a dragon head design I think this is fairly original. I've never seen a curly, flat horn coming out of a dragon's head plate before, and certainly not in combination with those neck hairs. But maybe that's just me :D

What about a reptilian flying squirrel?

Very true, I don't think I have seen a dragon quite like this one either.

Perhaps it's because I draw too many reptiles that makes it unoriginal, though I have to admit, a reptilian flying squirrel would be so awesome to draw.

Anyways, thank you. :D

Monster cows FTW. Or lemurs. Monstrous, fluffy, ring-tailed lemurs...

...And whether dragons are tried-and-true or not, this is still a really fun drawing. I love all the different textures.

Alchemy, which is this [link] and Photoshop CS4 for a few touch ups.

Also, for future reference I always list my materials at the bottom part of my description.

wait, alchemy is a program? whats that? lol

also how about drawing a chimera? =3 and make it really different, all you need is an animal for the main body, so theres your cow XD
and two other animals, resized appropriately on either side XD creative freedom for the anatomy, and finally take some other animal and toss it on for a tail XD like a giraffe lol XD

OH and dont forget that one of the heads can have a breath weapon! lol so if you want the squirl I could recommend a CONE OF ACORNS!!!! lol

thats just my recommendation lol, this picture looks great like the rest though :D

Hell yes, it'll be the most ferocious, destructive beast that was ever created. I can see the terrible damage it will unfold with its tail as a giraffe and breathing out flaming, squirrely acorns. :lmao:

On a serious note, this is Alchemy. [link]

Just a fun little sketchy program with lots of weird and different features.

Anyways, thank you very much. :D

I like it! :) I actually downloaded Alchemy after I had seen your other warm-ups! It's very interesting program.

I can't really make things come out to my liking, but it does make some amazingly interesting shapes. Do you find an abstract shape that you like and then just use combinations of black and white in Alchemy to add in details? I love the style!

Pretty much, or if I have a preexisting image in mind I just set a few black shapes in for the shadows and start rendering it from broad to small. It is a little hard and unforgiving program to work with, so I understand your troubles, but it just takes time and practice like all things.

Ahh, straight forward more or less. I suppose I'll have to fiddle around with different techniques to see what I can do. =P

Thanks!
